Associate of Science in Airport Operations and Aviation Logistics

PROGRAMME AIMS

Upon successful completion of this programme, students will be able to:

  • Possess a broad theoretical understanding in airport operations, airline ground operations, and air freight logistics operations;
  • Work competently at associate level in professional jobs in aviation and logistics industry and to pursue further studies at degree level;
  • Possess a solid foundation of generic skills, including skills in languages, quantitative methods, information technologies, interpersonal interaction and communication, problem analysis and solving, as well as in independent and lifelong learning;
  • Examine the major socio-political, cultural and economic issues affecting aviation and logistics in the local, national, regional and international contexts;
  • Relate major ideas in business, social science, arts and humanities, science and technology to aviation and logistics.

FURTHER STUDIES AND CAREER PROSPECTS

  • Graduates may continue their studies in relevant degree programmes, both locally and overseas. Examples are: BSc (Hons) in Aviation Management jointly offered by the City University of Hong Kong and the Coventry University, UK; BEng (Hons) in e-Logistics and Technology Management offered by the City University of Hong Kong; BEng (Hons) in Logistics Engineering and Supply Chain Management offered by the Hong Kong University; and BSc (Hons) Logistics Engineering and Management offered by the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. Many graduates manage to receive multiple admission offers from different local universities for their degree study.   • Graduates can also take up para-professional functions in the airport, air-cargo terminals, airlines, international couriers, freight forwarders, shipping companies, and global manufacturers. Recent graduates are now employed in Civil Aviation Department, Airport authority Hong Kong, Cathay Pacific Airways, Jardine Aviation Services, Hong Kong Airport Services Limited, Dragon Air, etc. Potential employers can also include DHL, FedEx, UPS, Hong Kong Air Cargo Terminals Limited, Hong kong International Terminals and many logistics companies in Hong Kong.

PROGRAMME SPECIFIC ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS

  • E or above in either one of the following HKCEE/HKALE AS/HKALE subjects: Mathematics / Additional Mathematics / Mathematics & Statistics / Pure Mathematics / Applied Mathematics, or equivalent;
  • Level 2 or above in HKDSE Mathematics or equivalent.
