With delegated authority from the Senate of the University, the Board of Management has established an Academic Board to oversee the planning, development, implementation and monitoring of the academic work offered by CCCU.

Terms of Reference
1. The Academic Board (AB) will be responsible for:
(i) planning, developing and maintaining the AD programmes of the University run by the CCCU and for deciding on the awards for students studying these programmes;
(ii) planning, developing and maintaining all credit-bearing programmes leading to CCCU awards and for deciding on the awards for students studying these programmes;
(iii) directing and regulating the teaching at the CCCU;
(iv) regulating the admission of persons to the approved programmes run by the CCCU;
(v) regulating the examinations leading to the awards of the University and to CCCU awards.
2. It also has delegated responsibility from the University Senate for the academic management of the CityU award-bearing AD programmes offered by Community College of City University (CCCU). Specifically, the Senate delegates the following authority to the AB:
(i) approving academic plans, student intakes and enrolments, and discontinuation of programmes;
(ii) approving entrance requirements and maintaining an appropriate academic standard at entry;
(iii) approving the curriculum of new programmes;
(iv) approving changes to programmes;
(v) approving academic regulations for student progress through programmes of study, assessment of students, and requirements for graduation;
(vi) establishing principles and policies for the assurance of the academic standards and quality of programmes of study;
(vii) deciding, on behalf of Senate, awards of Associate Degree for students successfully completing their programmes.

The constitution of the Academic Board is as follows:

- One staff member nominated by the Division of Building Science and Technology
Secretary:
- College Academic Secretary
The terms of office shall be two years for elected staff and nominated members from the support units, and a term of one year for the student members. The AB shall meet at least once each semester or more frequently as determined by the Principal, or by a majority of its members. One half of the number of members shall form the quorum at a meeting of the AB.

College Validation and Monitoring Committee
CCCU Validation and Monitoring Committee (CVMC) is set up under the Academic Board to assist the Board in carrying out its quality assurance responsibility in relation to the scrutiny of new course proposals, course validation and revalidation, monitoring and review. The CVMC makes recommendations to the Academic Board on the conformity of new and revalidated programmes with the Academic Regulations and policies.

CCCU Quality Assurance Committee (CQAC) is set up under the Academic Board to promote a quality culture in CCCU, foster a culture of quality assurance in CCCU and to formulate and recommend to the Academic Board the appropriate quality assurance policies and procedures. The CQAC also coordinates the preparation for academic quality audits that are undertaken by the appropriate bodies in Hong Kong and will undertake quality assurance audits for institutions interested in sending their students to CCCU.
