Students entering the four-year degree with Advanced Standing I in 2013/14 are required to take three courses (total 9 credit units) from a list of courses approved by the College Board for fulfilment of the College Requirement. The courses chosen to fulfil the College Requirement must be offered outside the students’ home departments (see Table 2).
Double counting of courses is permissible between the Major/Minor Requirement and College Requirement. However, the credit units would count only once toward the total credits on graduation for the student, regardless of the number of requirements the course serves to fulfil. (Clause 4.4 under Academic Regulations for 4-year Undergraduate Degrees)
In case a student is transferred from another College/School to CLASS departments in 2013/14 or a student (of 2013 entry) changes his/her home major of undergraduate degree within CLASS during subsequent years of study, the student should choose courses which are offered outside his/her new home department to fulfil the College Requirement.
Students who are transferred from another college/school into CLASS departments in 2013/14 are required to take three courses (total 9 credit units) offered outside their home departments from an approved list of courses to fulfil the CLASS College Requirement (see Table 2), similar to the arrangements of the Advanced Standing I students.
If a transfer-in student has already fulfilled the Gateway Education University Requirement by successfully completed a GE English II course in CityU, the student will not be required to take another GE English II course after transferring to CLASS department.
