Thousands attracted to CLASS on Information Day 2016

More than 30,000 students and parents explored the education opportunities at City University of Hong Kong (CityU) at the Information Day 2016 held under the theme “Professional, Creative, For the World”.

All Colleges/Schools of CityU hosted a series of exhibition booths, admission talks and workshops during the Information Day. Professors and current students of the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences (CLASS) actively participated in presenting our undergraduate programmes to the visitors and answering their inquiries. Visitors were provided with interactive activities and games at the exhibition booth of the Exploration Workshops offered by the Department of Applied Social Sciences. The Department of Media and Communication showcased its state-of-the-art facilities at the Omnimedia Digital Newsroom, 3D Virtual Studio and Advertising Studio in the Run Run Shaw Creative Media Centre. CLASS took the opportunity to promote the College’s Mini-movie competition and to encourage secondary students to join the competition.

This is the second year that students are admitted directly to the departments of CLASS. During the Information Day, various CLASS departments hosted talks for the current cohort of secondary school-leavers. Staff from the departments provided the attendees with the latest information about admission requirements and study options, and gave advice on what the students should consider when deciding their specialised fields and related career prospects. Some senior students shared their overseas learning experience with the attendees. Teaching staff introduced the learning facilities of CityU. Prospective students and parents were enthusiastic to know about the learning experiences of CLASS students and the excellent facilities provided by the University.
