Organised as part of the Global China Studies project run by the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences and the Department of Public Policy, a workshop entitled “Perceptions of Corruption and Anti-Corruption Performance: Indicators and Measurements” was held on 26 February at City University of Hong Kong.

Specialists in corruption and integrity management from Taipei and mainland China as well as Hong Kong presented their research papers at the workshop. The topics covered citizens’ perceptions of corruption, anti-corruption effectiveness and trust in the government as measures of anti-corruption performance, and the contribution of the ICAC to the success of Hong Kong's anti-corruption efforts. The results of a survey conducted in three cities (Hong Kong, Taipei and Changsha) on citizens’ confidence in the government’s anti-corruption work were presented and discussed. The participants pursued open and engaged discussion of these topics and explored the possibilities for further research collaboration.

The workshop was part of a project entitled “A Tale of Three Cities: Public Attitudes towards Corruption and Anti-Corruption”, which received the UGC Knowledge Transfer Earmarked Fund in 2016.
