Professor Yi-hui Christine Huang Elected Fellow of the International Communication Association

The College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences is pleased to announce that Prof Yi-Hui Christine Huang, Associate Dean (Faculty and Research) and Chair Professor of Communication and Media, recently became the first Chinese female scholar in the four places across the strait elected Fellow of the International Communication Association (ICA) in recognition of her distinguished scholarly achievement. Prof Huang’s accolade has affirmed Chinese female scholars’ academic accomplishments to the communication discipline worldwide. She is also the eighth Chinese appointed Fellow of ICA since the Association’s establishment.

Focusing on cross-cultural communication, public relations management, risk and crisis communication in health and science, Prof Huang’s research outputs and contributions earn global recognition in the academia.

Since establishment in 1950, ICA is the first and largest academic association in the communication discipline, now with members in 80 countries/regions. ICA fellowship is primarily a recognition of distinguished scholarly contributions to the broad field of communication. Scholarly achievement is the primary consideration for nomination to Fellow status while contributions in other sectors such as commerce, government and education, will also be taken into account. Around 230 scholars in the world have been awarded this honor so far.
