Orientation Prepares New Students of CLASS for Fruitful University Journey

University, college, and departmental orientation programmes are held online on 25 August 2020, to welcome the 2020/21 cohort of students to the CityU family and familiarise them with the new learning environment.

The College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences (CLASS) offers a virtual approach to student orientation this year.

Professor Richard M WALKER, Dean of CLASS, extends a warm welcome to all new students and wish them a successful journey of discovery, transformation and growth with the College. Embarking a new chapter amid the daunting challenges brought upon by the COVID-19 pandemic, the Dean assures the students that CLASS delivers high quality education at all times. “Always remember that all faculty and staff in CLASS are here to support your learning,” Professor Walker says.

Departmental orientation activities organised by CLASS academic units give students details on the curriculum, study life and learning opportunities of their respective programmes. Students can also meet their academic advisors, student mentors and fellow classmates in smaller groups.

The CLASS orientation programmes give the new students the essential information they will need for their first semester. The College also prepares a freshmen checklist, which lists actions that freshers should complete in time. All arrangements help to gear students up for pursuing academic knowledge, equipping future-ready skills, and achieving their goals in the next few years.
