Gearing up for university admission

The JUPAS application deadline is less than one month away. Many Form Six students are seeking useful information and advice to help them make their final-stage preparations for applying to university. More than 200 students and parents attended a talk about admissions delivered by Professor Dennis WONG, Associate Dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences (CLASS), City University of Hong Kong (CityU) at the Ming Pao Education Info Day held 5 November 2017 at the Kowloonbay International Trade and Exhibition Centre.

In his talk, Professor Wong provided the audience with up-to-date information about CityU and CLASS. Ranked 49th in the world and 8th in Asia, CityU is a renowned university that is firmly established on both global and regional stages, said Professor Wong. “Achievements in global rankings highlight the strengths of our University and College. We place very high standards on our faculty and students and devote many resources to support teaching, learning and research.”

Professor Wong described the distinctive features of the seven academic departments of CLASS and outlined the special requirements of various majors. In addition to intellectual pursuits, the College actively promotes global engagement through a variety of internationalisation activities to cultivate its students’ multicultural understanding and to help them explore the world. Both CityU and CLASS provide scholarships to support student learning and development.

After the talk, Professor Wong spoke to parents and prospective students and offered them practical advice on university education. The participants also visited the exhibition booth run by the College to inquire about entrance requirements, specialisations, career prospects and more about CLASS programmes.
