  • Professor Tze-ki HON is Professor of Chinese and History at the City University of Hong Kong. Specialising in classical studies and intellectual history, he has written four books and co-edited four collections of essays, covering a wide range of topics including the commentaries of the Yijing (Book of Changes), Neo-Confucianism of the Song-Ming period, the social and intellectual history of modern China, and the global order after WWI.
  • Professor Kristin STAPLETON is Professor of History at the University at Buffalo, State University of New York. She is the author of Civilizing Chengdu: Chinese Urban Reform, 1895–1937 and Fact in Fiction: 1920s China and Ba Jin’s Family.
  • Dr Hok-yin CHAN is Associate Professor of Chinese and History at the City University of Hong Kong. He developed his research interest in modern China at City University where he received his BA, MPhil and PhD degrees. Hitherto, he has published over 70 pieces of writing in refereed journals, edited volumes and conference proceedings.
  • Dr Els VAN DONGEN is Assistant Professor of History at Nanyang Technological University. She has published on Chinese intellectual debates during the reform era and on the Chinese diaspora.
