Symposium on Understanding the Analects of Confucius — A Dialogue with Peimin Ni

Organised by Global China Studies of the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences, the Symposium on Understanding the Analects of Confucius —A Dialogue with Peimin Ni was held at City University of Hong Kong on 17 November 2017. Professor Yong HUANG (CUHK), Professor Qingjie WANG (CUHK) and Professor Ruiping FAN (CityU) had a fruitful dialogue with Professor Peimin NI about his new translation of the Analects of Confucius.

In the symposium, Professor Huang, Professor Wang and Professor Fan each made a presentation commenting on Professor Ni’s new book Understanding the Analects of Confucius. Each professor commented on Professor Ni’s translation and interpretation of the Analects, and Professor Ni responded to each professor’s presentation. Some of the participants also raised questions about the Analects, Confucianism and Chinese philosophy in general.
