Event Recap

Global China Studies (GCS) of the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences, co-organizing with Public Administration and Development (PAD), held an international workshop entitled The Quality of Governance in China and Beyond on 15-17 June, 2016, at City University of Hong Kong. Scholars from USA, UK, Mainland China, Taiwan and Hong Kong participated in the conference including Professor Xiaowei Zang, the Dean of CityU’s College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences and PAD’s Editor-in-Chief, Jose A. Puppim de Oliveira. Founded in 1949, PAD is a leading peer-reviewed SSCI journal focusing on the practice of public administration at the local, regional, national and international levels.

Papers presented at the conference will be published in a special issue of PAD edited by its honorary editor, Paul Collins, and professors Ting Gong and Hon S. Chan of CityU. This special issue follows up PAD’s pioneering volume on “State Capacity Building in China” published in 2009 (http://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/pad.v29:1/issuetoc).
