Learning from Presenting: a Multimodal Case Study on Hong Kong Undergraduates’ Oral Presentation
Oral presentation competence has become a valuable asset for our academic and professional career. While we gradually become aware of the importance of making good use of multimodal sources (e.g. speech, body language and visuals) within this important event, our understanding on effective oral presentations is limited and we lack a research-based pedagogical model for oral presentation. Drawing on a mixed-method case study research design, my ongoing research investigates how Hong Kong students orchestrate their oral presentations through different modal sources; its goal is to develop a multidimensional pedagogical model of oral presentation for language and disciplinary courses.
