Simon Yung YAU
The work experience in the Buildings Department during the outbreak of the Severe Acute Respiratory Syndromes (SARS) in 2003 developed Dr. Yau’s interest in the problems of building disrepair and mismanagement in urban Hong Kong. Since 2005, Dr. Yau has engaged in a series of research on a wide range of topics related to multi-owned housing management in Hong Kong like building illegality, resident participation, evaluation of apartment building performance and housing rehabilitation. Recently, he also worked on projects related to anti-social behaviour and its controls in housing. Moreover, Dr. Yau has been a regular reviewer for various top-tiered peer-reviewed journals such as Habitat International, Housing Studies and Journal of Urban Plannning and Development.
