Established in July 2002 and supported by the University, City University of Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra was spontaneously founded by traditional Chinese music lovers.

Every year, the Chinese Orchestra attends and holds concerts. For example, at Mid-Autumn Festival Concert, we share the delight of celebrating traditional festival via music and gourmet snacks; at the CityUHK Arts Festival, we have invited music lovers for exchange visit and ensemble performance; upon the mini concert at the CityUHK Information Day, we present to visitors of the charismatics of CityUHK Chinese Orchestra; at Annual Performance, we present a grand and magnificent performance to showcase the achievements made by the CityUHK Chinese Orchestra in the past year.

Apart from the regular practices and rehearsals, CityUHK Chinese Orchestra also organises musical instrument classes, which is a great opportunity for students to join. Students may also join our regular practices after the completion of the 8-weeks lesson training.

Reviewing the past years, we aim at promoting traditional Chinese culture and providing a platform where traditional music lovers could communicate with each other and develop a close rapport. With the indefatigable endeavor of all members, City University of Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra exhibits robust vitality and expands steadily.
