The CIO heads a number of strategic IT projects personally with integration, streamlining of work processes and resources, and users’ perspectives as major directives. His office, being the contact unit for university data, offers a range of statistical reporting services to the Government and the management.


Services offered by the Office of the CIO

Coordinating requests for university data
The Office serves as the contact unit that coordinates requests for university data.

Managing university data definition
The Office is responsible for managing definition of university data, enhancing data integration and facilitating the sharing of information with all servicing departments.

Statistical returns to the Government
The Office is responsible for reporting annually to the University Grants Committee a series of statistics covering student, staff, finance and research in her Common Data Collection Exercise [login required]; and responds to the Government's requests for other statistical returns from time to time.

Executive Information System (EIS)
EIS [login required] was introduced in 1992 as an integrated system for delivering timely and accurate management information to department heads and their delegates to facilitate their planning and decision making processes.

The Office is responsible for the maintenance and installation of EIS and providing training to new users. Currently, the system contains four applications, namely, Student Numbers, Staff Contact Hours & Student Credits, University Statistics and UGC Statistics.

Compilation of statistics
The Office develops methodology for enrolment projection and computes student and staff related performance measures.

Resource allocation
The Office assists in developing resourcing methodology for budget and space allocations and is responsible for calculating the academic budgets and performing relevant analysis.

The Office publishes a range university statistics covering student, staff, research and finance on the Facts & Figures website.
