About the Survey

The Graduate Exit Survey (GES) is an annual survey conducted to all graduates of full-time programmes. Information collected includes employment status and profile, level and destination of further studies, and student’s experience and satisfaction with the University.

Aims and Objectives

The aims of the survey are:

  • To gain a better understanding of the employment profile of our graduates so that the University can develop strategies to help raise the competitiveness of CityU graduates;
  • To collect longitudinal data on CityU students' experience at the University for the continuous improvement in our educational programmes to meet the rapidly changing work and professional requirements.

Survey Method

In 2007, the University engaged Taylor Nelson Sofres Hong Kong Limited (TNS), an independent global market research company, to conduct the survey on-line on its behalf.

For the 2008, we are continuing the exercise with three customized questionnaires designed and administrated to graduates of different levels. i.e. assoicate degree, undergraduate and research postgraduate.

As every response is vital to the University, you will be approached by TNS for conducting a telephone interview in case we haven’t received your on-line reply.

Survey Results

The results of the survey will be reported to the senior management of the University and the relevant Deans and Heads of various units. The results will also be submitted to the University Grants Committee and the Education Bureau at their request. Please be assured that all the data collected will be kept STRICTLY CONFIDENTIAL and presented in AGGREGATE forms only. NO personal identity will be revealed.
