Welcome to the website of the Office of the Chief Information Officer. The City University of Hong Kong is an information technology progressive University. CityU has always pride itself for being ahead of the curve and taking a leading role as an innovator in the use of technology to support all aspects of the University’s mission. Technology is an integral part of what CityU is about and particularly so with the University’s new 2010-2015 Strategic Plan and our 2012-2015 Academic Development Proposal, which created the vision of our unique Discovery-Enriched Curriculum (DEC) framework. The aim of DEC is to leverage a technology-rich environment to encourage all our students to innovate and make original discoveries, and to learn what it means to create new knowledge, communicate it, curate it, and cultivate it to benefit society.
Technology is an essential element of the CityU DEC learning experience. Whether using mobile devices and apps for anytime anywhere learning, or social networks to connect and share, or cloud services for collaboration and teamwork, technology makes teaching/learning fun and an integral part of our daily life.
In 2010, the Office of the CIO, together with our academic departments and administrative units, created the 2010-2015 IT Strategic Plan and the 2010-2015 e-Learning Strategic Plan to map out our 5-year strategy in achieving the University’s strategic goals and mission and to create the technology environment for DEC.
The Central IT organization is dedicated to fulfilling CityU’s new vision of teaching, learning and research. The Office of the CIO together with the Computing Services Centre and the Enterprise Solutions Office, are committed to providing the most innovative technology to give the University a competitive edge and to offering our students, faculty, and staff the highest level of services and support.

If you are a new member to the CityU community, we have an IT Info website to orientate you to our IT services. For existing members of our community, we have a quarterly OCIO Newsletter to update you on our plans and developments. I also maintain a facebook page to share general IT information.
