Division of Language Studies (to be renamed Division of Languages and Communication in September 2012)
The Division of Languages and Communication offers seven associate degree programmes in languages and communication. These are: the AA in Bilingual Communication Studies, for beginners in Japanese, Spanish, French and Korean (and for students wishing to take a bilingual programme in English and Chinese), and the AA in Japanese Studies, also for beginners in Japanese, the AA in Applied Chinese Studies, the AA in English for Professional Communication, the AA in Translation and Interpretation, the AA in Communication and Public Relations, and the AA in Digital Visual Design, a programme in visual communication.
Graduates of our ADs have good opportunities for further study at bachelor degree level, locally in Hong Kong or overseas. Information sessions are organized every year to help students make the right choice for themselves.
The Division has a teaching staff of over 50 well-qualified full-time lecturers and also draws on the expertise of experienced part-time colleagues. We are a multinational, multicultural community - our teachers currently come from Hong Kong, PRC, UK, USA, Japan, Korea, Spain, France and Canada.
In addition to its AD programmes, the Division also runs the following internationally recognized language assessment tests: PSC, for Putonghua (普通話水平測試); DELE, for Spanish; KLAT, for Korean; and TCF, for French.
