Division of Language Studies
The Division of Language Studies offers a wide range of Associate of Arts programmes, from applied languages to communication and design. We have excellent links with several UK, Australian, and mainland universities. Many of our graduates continue their studies in Hong Kong or overseas.
We are an experienced, multicultural team of 50 full-time lecturers and tutors who come from Hong Kong, mainland China, Australia, Canada, France, Japan, Korea, Spain, the United Kingdom, and the United States. The breadth of experience of the academic staff is matched by the depth of their qualifications, with many holding doctorates in their respective fields. Over the years, several of our academic staff members have been recipients of the University’s Teaching Excellence Awards. The Division was also a recipient for the Reward Scheme for Academic Departments.
The Division is also a centre for internationally recognized language assessment tests for French (TCF - Test de Connaissance du Français, and TFI - Test de Français International), Spanish (DELE - Diploma de Español Lengua Extranjera), Korean (KLPT-Korean Language Proficiency Test) and Putonghua (National Putonghua Proficiency Test) administered through the Centre for Lifelong Learning.
