PROGRAMME AIMS

Upon successful completion of this programme, students will be able to:

  • Apply broad-based business knowledge and problem solving skills to a wide range of issues;
  • Apply interpersonal and communication skills, especially those related to working in teams, in the
  • workplace with cultural diversities;
  • Analyze the specialized knowledge to prepare for a career relating to China business;
  • Evaluate the major socio-political, cultural and economic issues affecting China business in relation to the local, regional and international contexts;
  • Communicate efficiently in English and Chinese, both orally and in writing, in different business environments;
  • Relate the major ideas in arts and humanities, science and technology to their own areas of study.

FURTHER STUDIES AND CAREER PROSPECTS

  • Graduates can continue their studies in a business-related degree programme, both locally and overseas. Graduates can apply for senior-year admission to BBA (Hons) programmes offered by City University of Hong Kong and both government-funded and self-financing business degree programmes offered by other local universities. For overseas universities, graduates can apply for admission to senior year of business programmes (which are offered either locally or in overseas countries), e.g. Curtin University of Technology, Macquarie University, De Montfort University, University of Hull, Edinburgh Napier University, Northumbria University, Oxford Brookes University, University of Portsmouth, etc. For details, please refer to the iPASS of HKSAR at http://www.ipass.gov.hk/eng/.
  • Graduates may find employment at the supervisory level with local or international firms which are expanding their businesses in China. In particular, graduates may be engaged in positions relating to sales and marketing, financial services and logistics.

MAIN SUBJECT AREAS

  • The first year curriculum is designed to provide students with a firm foundation in business. Subject areas include: Introduction to Marketing, Management, Financial Accounting, Financial Management, Information Management, Quantitative Analysis, Economics I and II, and English Communication Skills for Business.
  • The second year curriculum is designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills required for doing business in China. Subjects are: China Economics Law, China Accounting and Taxation, China Business Environment and Operations, Managing Human Resources in China and Distribution and Logistics in China.

PROGRAMME SPECIFIC ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS

  • E or above in either one of the following HKCEE/ HKALE AS/ HKALE subjects: Mathematics, Additional Mathematics, Pure Mathematics and Applied Mathematics, or equivalent
  • Level 2 or above in HKDSE Mathematics

  • Two-year Full-time
