CCCU Students win Silver Award
in the 2017 Kam Fan Awards
Three Year 2 students from the Community College of City University (CCCU) achieved a Silver award in the 2017 Kam Fan Awards (Students’ Awards) organised by the Association of Accredited Advertising Agencies of Hong Kong (HK4As).
It is the second time that students from the College’s Associate of Arts in Digital Visual Design (AADVD) programme win the Silver Award. The first time was in 2015. The theme for the student’s division in this year is ‘Moderate Use of Mobile Phone’. Miss HO Lam Chi, Miss CHEUNG Hei Wan, and Miss YUEN Man Ling (from left to right in the photo) spent five weeks to come up with an advertising campaign that centred on the theme. The students from the AADVD programme opted to enter the competition in lieu of the regular project. There is keen competition as this is the only recognised event organised by an accredited association in Hong Kong for advertising and design students. Altogether there were around 170 groups of participants from various local universities in the competition, with the 10 finalists shortlisted for the final selection.
The CCCU students won one of three Silver Awards in the competition, while three other institutions got Bronze Awards, and the remaining three institutions were awarded the Merit. It is remarkable that the HK4As has not awarded the Gold Award since 2011. The point of entering the competition is to encourage them to apply what they have learnt at the College, be self-motivated, be confident and make the most efficient use of the available resources. Through this process the students gained invaluable experience and the competition testifies to their capabilities.
Detailed information on the competition and the awards are posted on HK4As's website:
