Theme

The instability of housing markets and the operation of housing finance systems are at the centre of the current global financial crisis. The impact of the crisis has, however, been uneven across the globe in terms of both institutional and household casualties. In particular, many East Asian societies have not been as severely affected as Europe and the USA. The conference has been planned, and timed, to enable a sober and systematic comparative assessment of the impacts on households within and between different countries. It will make an original and significant theoretical and empirical contribution to an important area of current academic and policy debate. The invited speakers are leading academics from the USA, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, UK, Ireland, Iceland, Korea, China, Hungary, Vietnam and Spain.
