This course aims at training students to be effective producers and managers of their media production. Often we have lofty ideas in creating media projects without a clue of how much it will cost or how long it will take. And where does the money come from? Students will acquire the basic concepts of producing and project management – from identifying and developing good projects to raising money, managing time, money, locations and resources; and to establish dynamic working relationships with production staff and crew. Tutorials and workshops will equip students with a variety of survival skills such as writing proposals for media grants, copyrighting their project, purchasing production insurance and marketing strategies.
