Course Aims

This course aims to

  • Develop understanding of different issues and perspectives on global environmental degradation
  • Examine the relationship between economic growth, environmental justice and sustainable development
  • Evaluate different theories of environmental ethics in the East and the West, and assess their contribution to environmental decision making
  • Analyse major environmental issues and problems in Hong Kong society and assess the adequacy of our policy response, based on different ethical principles and approaches
  • Enhance skills for ethical reasoning, and critical and creative thinking
