Course Aims

To enable students to understand what the major issues in employment relations are, and the role the state plays in the employment relationship, and then to critically assess the role of governments in their ability to and orientation towards managing labour resources, especially in Hong Kong. Moreover students will be able to explore how different governments have sought to manage labour resources at different times, and to assess the degree to which forces are leading towards convergence or divergence of such policies, with the impact of such organisations and the ILO and WTO.
