Course Aims

The aim of this course is to build on the knowledge of linguistic theory acquired in earlier courses, and to explore the theoretical foundations of one or more dominant schools of thought in the study of language, with reference to their methodological assumptions and achievements as manifested in investigations of the core areas of phonetics, phonology, morphology, syntax and semantics. Issues in modern linguistic theories will be addressed.
