Course Aims

This course aims to provide an introduction to the main technologies that support electronic commerce systems and services. Students are exposed to a broad spectrum of technologies underlying the building of eCommerce systems and enabling the provision of eCommerce services. The technologies ranges from infrastructural systems such as the Internet and web based systems and tools to application and mobile systems. Students also come to recognise the significance and utility of of data interchange and service oriented application interaction models and related tools. Students will also understand the basic requirements and technologies in protecting eCommerce data and transactions, and to apply them in case studies of eCommerce systems.

Examination: 50%
Examination Duration: 2 hours
For a student to pass the course, at least 40% of the maximum mark for the continuous assessment and 30% of the maximum mark for the examination must be obtained.
