Course Aims

This course aims to
  1. Develop students’ theoretical and contextual knowledge of the interconnections between cinema and cultural heritage, in particular in the contexts of Hong Kong, Taiwan, Mainland China and the Chinese diaspora;
  2. Explore different dimensions and meanings of cultural heritage through critical appreciation of representative films from different historical periods and cultural contexts
  3. Develop students’ ability to discuss and assess the different approaches to history and cultural identity in cinematic representations
