Course Aims

This course introduces influential cultural theories and paradigms through which we analyze modern life and represent the world we live in. It covers diverse discourses on culture and ideology such as psychoanalytical theory, Marxism, postmodernism and popular culture. It also introduces critical discourses on globalization, urbanity, cultural memory and heritage. These theories will help students develop critical awareness of different cultural issues and will facilitate their understanding and analysis of contemporary society and cultural heritage.
