Course Aims

This course examines Korean popular culture as a means to understand the mainstream culture and society of modern Korea.  A variety of topics related to popular culture are to be explored such as media, advertising, films and TV dramas, gender, class, social relationship and globalisation of Korean popular culture. Korea’s traditional values and philosophy will also be examined in comparison/contrast with the popular culture of Hong Kong.
