Programme Aims

The Master of Social Sciences in Psychology of Education is intended to be an advanced training for teachers and related professionals. The programme puts heavy emphasis on the application of psychological principles in the field of education in general and inclusive education and career guidance in particular.

Programme Intended Learning Outcomes (PILOs)

Upon successful completion of this Programme, students should be able to:

1. explore the contemporary issues in the field of psychology of education and its application in inclusive education for learners’ diversity, and career guidance and vocational counselling

2. examine analytically the philosophy and values relating to the education of students with diverse educational needs in Hong Kong

3. use a wide variety of teaching strategies and initiate curriculum adaptation for students with diverse educational needs

4. carry out educational research with appropriate research techniques; and

5. solve issues in and devise innovative solutions for the field of psychology of education by applying knowledge of human motivation, psychopathology and counselling practices
