Course Aims

The aim of this course is to develop students’ ability in understanding, analyzing and reflecting social issues of aging in Hong Kong context. Upon completion of the course, student will be able to describe the major themes/concepts of different areas of social gerontology, to make valid comparisons between different interdisciplinary perspectives on aging to criticize the application of social aspects of aging, and care of aging; and to evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of current aging issues in Hong Kong society.

Presentation: 20%
Final Report: 40%
Student Participation: 10%
Older Adult Interview: 30%
