For admission to the government-funded Associate of Science programme offered by the Division of Building Science and Technology, applicants must meet the entrance requirements listed below. The levels/grades indicated are the minimum acceptable but possession of these qualifications in no way guarantees acceptance.

Remarks:
Applicants who have (i) learned Chinese Language for less than 6 years while receiving primary and secondary education or (ii) learned Chinese Language for 6 years or more in schools but have been taught an adapted and simpler Chinese Language curriculum not normally applicable to the majority of students in local schools can use one of the following qualifications to replace HKDSE Chinese Language Level 2 to meet the entrance requirement.
HKDSE other language subjects normally cannot be used to meet the Chinese language entrance requirement. Waivers may be granted only under special circumstances.
For applicants who have fulfilled the minimum entrance requirements, various types of admission score are calculated to facilitate selection of applicants for admission.
Presented below is the main admission score used by the Division of Building Science and Technology.
For applicants with the same admission score, reference will be made to other information such as band choice, interview performance, other admission scores, and/or application information where applicable.

Remarks:
- Besides Category A elective subjects, Mathematics extended modules (M1/M2), Category C other language subjects (at grade E or above) and some Applied Learning subjects can be used to meet the requirement of “three other HKDSE subjects". If students take both M1 and M2, the two modules are counted as one subject only. Please refer to the above Entrance Requirements section for details.

For recognized Category B Applied Learning subjects, a score of '3' (Attained with Distinction / Distinction I)
or '4' (Attained with Distinction II) will be used in the score calculation.
The Division offers a flexible curriculum that provides students with the freedom to decide which discipline they wish to major in after the first semester of study. Students may choose from among:
(1) Building Services Engineering
(2) Construction Engineering and Management
(3) Surveying
In the first semester of study, students will be admitted to the Division of Building Science and Technology. They will study the core-curriculum courses of the Associate of Science programme, English and/or Chinese Language and Gateway Education courses.
At the end of the first semester, students will be allocated a major of their choice, subject to their academic performance, the availability of places and the selection criteria set by the Division of Building Science and Technology.
