We invite applications from qualified candidates with a bachelor degree or higher in life sciences, medicine, chemistry, and biomedical engineering. Applications are accepted throughout the year and will be considered mainly in one admission round. The application deadline for 2017 entry is 6 December 2016. A full application package should include an online application form, the settlement of application fee, all academic transcripts and certificates, the front page of the papers or the letter of acceptance (in support of the applicant's publication record, if applicable), international English language test results (if applicable), and two Referee's Report Forms. The Admission Committee will take into account the following factors in making admission decisions: academic excellence; research ability and potential; communication and interpersonal skills; and leadership abilities.

The Department has a number of scholarships to support postgraduate studies towards PhD degree. Outstanding students with a bachelor degree or above in biology, chemistry, engineering, and medicine (including veterinary medicine) who wish to conduct state-of-the-art basic, clinical and translational life sciences research are encouraged to apply. The students will participate in research programmes leading to PhD degrees in one of the following areas:
The PhD programme is student-centred and led by faculty who are accessible, engaged and committed to ensuring that our postgraduate students reach their full potential in research, teaching and professional development. Each studentship provides an annual stipend of around HKD191,000 and a conference grant of HKD10,000 per year to each awardee for a period of up to three years.
