BUI Thi Van Anh, a PhD student supervised by Dr BAN Kiwon, received the Sun Chieh Yeh Heart Foundation Young Investigator Award (First Prize) at the 24th Annual Scientific Meeting of the Institute of Cardiovascular Science and Medicine (ICSM).

The conference, with the theme Cardiovascular Disease in the COVID-19 Era, was held on 6 November 2021 at the Li Ka Shing Faculty of Medicine, The University of Hong Kong. The meeting focused on cardiovascular research progress in both basic studies and clinical trials. Besides faculty presentations and discussions, Young Investigator Awards were also granted to research students and young scientists in the field in recognition of their outstanding presentations.

Mrs Bui is the only recipient to win the First Prize in the Young Investigator Oral Presentation category at the conference, with an award certificate and a cash prize. Through her research, titled “Instant Fabrication of Angiogenic Patch for Effective Vascular Regeneration”, she has investigated a novel protein patch to effectively deliver angiogenic factors for peripheral artery disease. Her project not only promises for cardiovascular disease treatment, but also paves the way for protein/drug/substance delivery for other disease cures. Coming from a competitive cardiovascular research lab, Mrs Bui has successfully learned and presented her understandings to the conference and won the award. More information about the conference can be found at its website.

Congratulations to Anh on her outstanding performance – well done!
