360° view of Academic Gowns
Bachelor's Degree
Description
The academic dress for Bachelor's Degree consists of a black gown, a mortarboard cap and a hood. The Bachelor's hood is silk edged and the colour of the hood edge and lining distinguishes the discipline.
The hood for Bachelor's Degree graduates is to be worn on top of the gown and over the shoulders, with the coloured silk lining slightly turned out and draped at the back. The gown have a large slit in each sleeve. When wearing the gown, the arms should go straight through the sleeve and not through the slit in the sleeve.
Honour Cord
Bachelor's Degree graduates awarded with First Class Honours can wear honour cords during the Congregation ceremonies. The Honour cord consists of a pair of identical golden cords that are knotted together and is worn by hanging loosely from both sides of graduate’s shoulders.
The honour cord can be kept by the distinguished graduate as a memento but does not form a permanent part of the academic regalia.
