360° view of Academic Gowns
The academic dress for Postgradue Diploma, Postgraduate Certificate or Associate Degree consists of a black gown, a mortarboard cap, and a silk stole of different colours to distinguish types of award.
The stole is to be worn on top of the gown, with the middle across the back of neck and the two ends draping in the front. The gown has a large slit in each sleeve. When wearing the gown, the arms should go straight through the sleeve and not through the slit in the sleeve.
Associate Degree graduates with Distinction can wear honour cords during the Congregation ceremonies. The Honour cord consists of a pair of identical golden cords that are knotted together and is worn by hanging loosely from both sides of graduate’s shoulders.
The honour cord can be kept by the distinguished graduate as a memento but does not form a permanent part of the academic regalia. It is not worn after the Congregation ceremonies.
