Abstract
A new real-time lip contour extraction system has been developed. By transforming a RGB image to the LAB color space and with the use of fuzzy clustering technique, the lip region and the skin region can be clearly separated. A 14-point active shape lip model and a new point driven optimization procedure have been developed to extract lip contour using this system.

The system can extract lip contours at a rate of 50 fields per second in the PAL system. In addition, an isolated English digits (Zero to Nine) recognition algorithm based solely on the dynamic visual lip features has been successfully realized.

簡介
我們開發了一套實時提取嘴唇輪廓的系統。此系統將RGB圖像轉換至LAB顏色空間,並利用模糊聚類技術,清楚地將嘴唇及皮膚的範圍區分出來。系統再利用一個有14點的活動嘴唇模型及一個新的優化方法,成功提取嘴唇輪廓。
此系統能以每秒50幀的速率在PAL制式中提取和顯示嘴唇輪廓,倍增影像的分解度。同時,此系統亦能從嘴唇移動的動態特徵識別英文數字(Zero至Nine)。
