AIS3800 Professional Internship

Intern’s Reflection and Photos

Four AIS students completed internship at AFCD Tai Lung Farm in Summer 2019.
Jones Lang LaSalle (JLL) is a Fortune 500 company and there is a lot to learn from working there. My deeply enriching experience at JLL has supplemented the knowledge I have gained as a student of AIS: from methods of research to market mechanisms. I have had a chance to apply this knowledge in the context of real estate- through field research of Hong Kong's primary submarkets like Central and Mong Kok in order to analyse market trends, as well as in technical writing to report such trends. So far as writing is concerned, in fact, at the end of my experience, I have been offered a job as a Freelance Writer for an online real estate news magazine by JLL known as JLL Real Views. I was fortunate to secure this as I published a widely shared article for this publication during my internship.

During my internship in an Australian environmental NGO, I was encouraged to utilize my research skills and broaden my world vision on scouting for business opportunities. The ten weeks I spent in Sydney – including hosting a breakfast meeting with sustainable procurement officers, liaising with members of the Global Ecolabelling Network, engaging in policy advocacy – is one of the most invaluable and fruitful experiences of my life.

I definitely recommend AIS3800 to my friends and classmates as I think that it is a great opportunity for students to develop themselves before officially entering the labour market
