Duties

Be an active researcher, dedicated to university teaching and supervision of students at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, including Bachelor’s, Master’s and PhD degrees; and undertake administrative responsibilities as assigned by the Head of Department.

Requirements

A PhD in any social sciences or cultural disciplines (including political science, international relations, sociology, and others) with specialized expertise in contemporary Korean society.  Korean language proficiency is a requirement, as is strong evidence of teaching excellence and research accomplishments and/or potential.  The successful candidate will be expected to teach broad-based courses on Korean society as well as concept-oriented courses drawing on his/her academic disciplines.

Executive Assistant in the Department of Asian and International Studies [Ref. C/550/09]

Duties

The appointee will be required to:

  1. Support the coordination and implementation of undergraduate outreach activities, events, seminars and special projects;
  2. Liaise with scholars and external parties in relation to academic programme activities;
  3. Administer internationalisation projects (e.g. study tours and internships);
  4. Maintain the employment, alumni and internship database;
  5. Assist in alumni relations projects;
  6. Assist in compiling statistical reports for resources planning as well as departmental administrative duties;
  7. Undertake committee work;
  8. Supervise a group of student helpers to deliver good quality service; and
  9. Perform any other duties as assigned.

 

Requirements

5 passes in HKCEE/HKDSEE including English Language, Chinese Language and Mathematics with at least 2 years’ relevant working experience.  A good honours degree with experience in tertiary education institution is preferred.  Good command of written and spoken English and Chinese (including Putonghua); proficiency in computer knowledge (familiarity with design softwares preferred) and data management skills; good organisational, problem solving and interpersonal skills; being self-motivated with a strong sense of responsibility and attentive to details; being an excellent team player and ability to meet tight schedules; capability to handle multi-tasks and prioritise tasks; and ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment are required.

Working outside office hours for supporting events and activities will be required.

Shortlisted candidates will be invited for a written test.
