The programme aims to provide educational and vocational training for students to become technically competent personnel in the construction industry. It equips students with engineering knowledge, design process, construction technology, quantity surveying and management skills required for careers in building and other forms of construction, and provides a broad-based academic foundation for further career advancement.

Graduates of this programme will have the necessary technical and academic foundation to develop successful careers, in the private and public sectors, in a wide range of construction and related fields, including project management, contract administration, quantity surveying, project engineering and field supervision.

Programme Specific Entrance Requirement
Full-time Mode of Study - satisfy one of the following:
- E in 1 HKALE subject, including Pure Maths, Applied Maths, Physics, Engineering Science, Chemistry, Biology and Computer Studies; or E in 2 HKALE AS subjects, including Applied Maths, Biology, Chemistry, Maths & Statistics, Physics, Computer Applications or Design & Technology; and E in 6 HKCEE subjects
- Hold a recognised diploma in building studies, civil engineering, or any subject related to the construction industry
Part-time Mode of Study
- Hold a recognised diploma in building studies, civil engineering, or any subject related to the construction industry
English Language Requirement
- satisfy one of the following:
- E in HKCEE English Language
(Syl B)
- C in HKCEE English Language
(Syl A)
- E in HKALE AS Use of English OR equivalent
Chinese Language/Alternative Language Requirement - satisfy one of the following:
- E in HKCEE Chinese Language
- E in HKALE AS Chinese Language and Culture OR equivalent

Students admitted with a recognized diploma in building studies, civil engineering or any other subjects related to the construction industry may be granted credit transfer for certain courses.
In addition to the University English Language and University Chinese Civilisation Requirements, supporting areas include appropriate studies in Applied Statistics, Site Surveying, Industrial Training and Communication Skills.

Graduates of this programme are exempted from all modules in Formation Studies (Level 1) and five modules in Core Studies (Level 2) up to a level of 195 credits of the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB)#.
They are eligible to apply for the Associate Membership of the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers (HKIE).
This programme is also recognized by local universities and many overseas institutions for admission with advanced standing into second or final year of their degree programmes. The admission of a candidate is subject to the individual institution's selection criteria and the candidate's own merits.
